Best Practice Tours

MRMA schedules tours of various manufacturing plants. Members have the opportunity to observe firsthand the manufacturers’ operations from information management systems, to manufacturing processes, to material handling, to management styles. Participants have the opportunity to ask questions one-on-one of the host company’s management. These tours provide great opportunities to see new ideas and processes that may benefit other companies.

Networking

Meetings, tours, seminars and luncheons provide opportunities for finding new customers, sources, services and suppliers. Through interaction at MRMA functions, managers develop relationships which allow an exchange of ideas, problems and solutions to common challenges.

Voice in the Community

Members have input into local issues which may affect their businesses. MRMA has collaborated effectively with government and community organizations to resolve problems and give direction concerning local development to meet the needs of our members. MRMA members hold seats on the boards or committees of organizations such as the Ocala Marion County Economic Development Council, Free Trade Zone Initiative, Airport Board, ARC, Workforce Development and Ocala/Marion County Chamber of Commerce.

Voice in Tallahassee & Washington DC

MRMA is a member of the state organization, Manufacturers Association of Florida and has two positions on their Board of Directors. Through this partnership MRMA joins forces with manufacturing associations throughout the state to advocate for manufacturing in Florida.There is a paid lobbyist in Tallahassee to work with our legislators to improve the business climate for manufacturers in Florida.

Guest Speakers

MRMA schedules business luncheons which features speakers who address various subjects of interest to manufacturers. Members are encouraged to bring representatives from their organizations who have particular interest in the subject matter. MRMA, in conjunction with Central Florida Community College, has started Marion Regional Manufacturing Institute . Various courses covering an array of areas pertinent to manufacturers and business in general are offered. Students completing the series are awarded a certificate of completion which is recognized by area businesses.

Scholarship

MRMA has completely funded endowed scholarships to Central Florida Community College for students pursuing a career in manufacturing. Employees and family members are given preference in receiving these scholarships. Recipients are invited to participate in all MRMA functions.
